I Have A Dream:
Coversongs of the Civil Rights Movement

No, no, we are not satisfied, and we will not be satisfied until justice rolls down like waters and righteousness like a mighty stream.

It saddens me how much Dr. King's I Have A Dream speech continues to resonate today. Sad, too, that so much of the rising generation thinks of today as just another day off.

May these few still, small, unsatisfied voices in the wilderness remind us of how far we have come -- and how far we have yet to go.

  1. IMNSHO, you diminish your point when you refer to "voices" as "unsatisfied'.

You may be right. My intent was to show that what makes these versions "work", to me, is that they lend a note of yearning and relevance to the lyrical interpretation, one that isn't always present in all covers of these songs -- see, for contrast, Dan Zanes' too-cheerful version of "we shall not be moved", which is far too playful for a world where standing firm is still relevant and necessary.

Not sure the word I used communicated that clearly enough, but I didn't want to over-word the post.

    Thanks for the note.

  3. Romance is necessity of inner heart luxury, as well the extreme expression of life sentiment
